The Oxnard Police Department is pleased to announce the return of the Community Academy! This course offers members of the community an up-close and personal look at how the Oxnard Police Department operates. The program brings Oxnard's civic, business, social, and faith leaders together to experience firsthand how the Oxnard Police Department responds to crime, safety, and quality of life issues in our community. Participants will learn about various department personnel, tools, and techniques used to carry out our mission. Classes in English will be held Tuesday evenings January 28 - March 4. Classes will be offered in Spanish Wednesday evenings January 29 - March 5. The Academy will be held at the Oxnard Police Station (251 South C Street) from 6:00PM - 9:00PM. Each academy participant will also go on a ride-along with an Oxnard Police Officer during the six-week time span.
Additional Rules/Requirements:
1. Participants must be at least 18 year-of-age.
2. A criminal history check will be conducted on each participant.
3. Participants are required to wear appropriate attire.
4. Participants are required to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. Failure to comply may lead to dismissal.
5. Participants are not permitted to carry weapons.
6. Accepted participants will receive a confirmation email no later than January 7, 2025.
7. Class size is limited. Priority consideration will be given to persons living and/or working within the City of Oxnard.
8. Participants must be available to attend all six classes.
